Our Servers are Adequately Protected to Ensure Zero Level
Access - Aliyu Rabiu Rimgim
CCD: Can
we have your brief profile?
ARS: My name is Aliyu Rabiu
Shuaibu. I am an indigene of Ringim in Jigawa State, a graduate of Computer
Science with specialty in System Analysis and Design.
CCD: What
are your primary responsibilities?
ARS: Junior Server
Administrator charged with daily server maintenance and administration, and a
System analyst and any other ICT projects assigned to me by the Head, ICT
Department.
CCD: What
do you consider as your major achievement since you assumed duty?
ARS: I used to work as the
ICT Support Officer (ISO) in Gusau Area Office, there was a time when Gpay was
withdrawn in 2017 and we were expected to revert back to the old payment
platform which only works on Windows XP, we had cash offices in far places like
Gummi, Talata Mafara etc. A call was made to bring the systems down to the Area
office to make the necessary changes, luckily it was on Friday and all the
systems were ready by Sunday evening. And as the only ISO in Gusau I worked for
2 years from 2015-2017 without going for annual leave.
CCD: How
do you ensure the Company's server is being protected from scammers?
ARS: There are certain
procedures undertaken to ensure zero level access, strong passwords as well as
other infrastructures in place to ensure access to only authorized personnel
within the organization.
CCD:
Report reaching us that the Company's server is not always stable what plans do
you have to bring an end to it?
ARS: Servers are in stable
conditions, as server administration is a task carried out day-in day-out,
because the primary objective is to minimize downtime. When an issue arises
which is usually minimum, and sometimes due to connection problems with internet
from the host which is not within the organization, we mobilize all
resources available to address it.
CCD:
What's the most challenging part of being an ICT Officer?
ARS: Meeting up with the fast
growing environment, were innovations and advancement happen almost on daily
basis and then being backed up by the management.
CCD: Any
appeal or suggestion to staff or management?
ARS: My appeal to the
Management is to support the department as the ICT is the backbone of the 21st
century digital economy. And to the Staff, we should take our responsibilities
serious and with uttermost importance as every department in the organization
is working diligently to achieve on our mission and vision.
