CCD: Briefly tell us about your background?

HS: My name is Habibu Saidu. I was born and brought up in Argungu Local Government of Kebbi State.


CCD: When did you join Kaduna Electric?

HS: I joined the services of Kaduna Electric in February, 2015.

CCD: What are your primary responsibilities as Commercial Manager?

HS: My primary responsibilities as a Commercial Manager is to supervise all the commercial activities within my Area Office; right from billing, which comprises feeder alignment, DT alignment, Tariff re-classification, Meter Reading, and also supervise the activities of Team Leads and Service Centre Managers.

CCD: What do you consider as challenging in this job?

HS: There is no doubt about the challenges in every business, likewise in the electricity sector, there are a lot facing the sector and the Discos. Kaduna Electric is a revenue generating company that deals with the customers and up till now there are so many people who believe that the sector is still under the Federal Government which is not.

CCD: How do you manage to address those challenges?

HS: We must confront the challenges and engage with people to let them know that electricity is a product and it has cost which at the end of the month that product must be paid for. We need to also sensitise our Customers to reduce wasting the energy and also to pay the monthly Bills brought to them.

CCD: This is  2021, what are your plans for Kebbi North Area Office in terms of revenue collection?

HS: I will stand up to enlighten the customers on how important the electricity is to them and the cost of the energy they are taking. We shall work very hard  to reduce our Aggregate Technical, commercial  and collection, ATC&C losses. We are also going to give much consideration to bringing in new customers so that whoever enjoys our supply will be captured on board and have to respond to the bills delivered to him/her.

CCD: How is your role adding value to Kaduna Electric?

HS: The Company has two major functional departments whose roles determine the success or otherwise of the company; these are Commercial and Technical Departments. The Commercial Department plays a significant role in the company, because the department covers 90% of the activities taken place in the Area office and the company at large,

The Department is also responsible in capturing all the Customers connected to the company's network, send the Customer's information for billing to generate the revenue for the Company. It is the responsibility of the Department to reduce both Commercial and collection losses.

CCD: Any appeal to the management and staff?

HS: My appeal to all is, we must wake-up to our responsibilities in making sure Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company succeed in all ramifications.
