Management Reiterate Commitment to Staff Motivation as Promotion Exercise Commences…

As part of the ongoing restructuring of the Company for better productivity, the Management has commenced promotion exercise for qualified staff who joined the service of the Company in 2015

 The exercise which commenced on Saturday through Sunday 12th and 13th December, 2020 is aimed at rejuvenating the workforce by rewarding members of staff who scored a minimum of B grade in the 2017, 2018 and 2019 performance
appraisal.

The Head, Organisational Design and Development, Mrs. Adeola Akanni in an interview with CCD correspondent noted that all hardworking staff would be motivated so as to make it clear to all that there is always recognition for hard work, good conduct, useful ideas and excellent performance in the organization.

According to her, “over 50% out of the 1001 staff that participated in the interview get promoted to the next grade and for those that scored C and D, it is still not too late for them; they can still buckle up their shoes, I believed they can make. We are actually a performance driven organization and the Management has promised that the promotion exercise has come to stay in Kaduna Electric; so it is going to be every year, for those that didn’t make it this year, definitely they will have a chance next year”.

She asserted that once an organization recompenses staff for good deed, this will enable the staff to be competitive and live-up to expectation, noting that nobody should lose hope as the Management has discovered through the interview exercise that Kaduna Electric has abundant talents and potentials to stay strong and learn from others.

 

The Head, OD&D urged all staff to work extra ordinarily in other to achieve the aim of Kaduna electric. “I believed the sky is the limit if you and I can do what we are supposed to do we will get their I wish Kaduna Electric a huge success even as the year 2020 comes to an end”, she said.

One of the staff who participated in the process commended the Management and urged them to keep the good work by recognizing and rewarding good performance which he said will in one way or the other helped the Company achieve its goals.

 

 “This will surely go a long way in motivating all staff to put in their best in seeing the Company’s progress”, he said.

 

He also called on the Management to make the exercise “a continuous process because the growth and success of any organization depend on having capable team members, and this cannot be achieved without motivation”.

 

Nigeria Police Promises Kaduna Electric Adequate Security In Zamfara

The Police Commissioner in charge  of Zamfara State Command, Usman Nagoggo, has promised to provide adequate security to staff of Kaduna Electric as it's contribution in ensuring uninterrupted power supply in the state.  

The Commissioner made this known when the Management of the Gusau and Talatan Mafara Area Offices paid him a courtesy visit in his office.  

The Police Commissioner also stated that it is the responsibility of the police to protect lives and property including all properties belonging to the Organization. This, he said, if done, will enable the organization carry out its responsibilities diligently.

"Security is a serious business and it must be taken with all seriousness, therefore all suspicious movement must be reported to the Police promptly in order to forestall and nip in the bud all criminal activities around the facilities of the organization," he noted.

He cautioned members of the organization against taking laws into their hands as that will only compound the problem, he advised that every problem should be directed to the police for proper action to be taken.

On his part, the Regional Operations Manager Engr. Umar Sani Argungu, called on the Commissioner to help the company especially on the issue of threats by customers which is becoming the order of the day.

"Threats on the staff of the company is one of the factors that is hindering adequate power supply to the state, we have to work together as a team to fight against it in this state. In Kaduna Electric, we always abide by all the laws of the land"

While speaking, the Area Manager of Gusau Area Office, Engr Mustapha Gago, described the visit as a welcome development and promised to give maximum cooperation to the command.

"We know the importance of electricity to security and security agents, it helps them a lot in carrying out their responsibilities, the company will do everything possible to give power supply to the command so as to enable them carryout their responsibilities adequately, but not withstanding, that will not be accomplished if customers will not settle their bills as at when due", he concluded.


Nextier Power Partners Kaduna Electric on Customers’ Education.

Nextier Power, a non-governmental organization, in collaboration with Kaduna Electric, has on Tuesday, 15th December, 2020 organized a one-day customer sensitization with the theme: Improving Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry Through Public Education.

 

In his contribution, the National Secretary of the Network for Electricity Consumer Advocacy of Nigeria, NECAN, Mr. Uket Obonga educated the customers on their rights and responsibilities as contained in some orders of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

 

In his presentation, Mal. Mas’ud Salisu Abdulkadir of the Compliance Department, enlightened the participants on the electricity supply chain, how electricity reaches their homes right from the generation to the distribution network as well as rights and obligations of both the service providers and the customers.

 

He urged the customers to pay their bills on time, adding that failure to do so constitute the major challenges affecting the distribution of electricity in the Country.

 

In his contribution, Mr. Sunday Yahaya of the Customers Service and Franchising Department, enlightened the participant on the NERC approved estimated billing methodology, capping order and the ongoing National Mass Metering Programme.

 

He called   on customers to be more vigilant and help to protect power equipment in their various communities and urged them to pay their bills as at when due.

At the end of event some customers lauded Kaduna Electric and Nextier Power for organizing such an event, which according to them offered them the opportunity to air their views and to also understand the rights and obligations as well as operations of Kaduna Electric.

 

Doka Area Office Engages Keke Community on Bills Payment, Seeks More Cooperation

The Doka Area Office has had an engagement meeting with members of Keke Community in Kaduna where the latter were charged on bills payment and the need to create conducive atmosphere for our staff to carry out their duty without any fear of molestation. 

The Area Manager of Doka Area Office, Engr. Asmau Ahmed made the appeal when making her opening remarks at the meeting, stressing that the call became necessary due to the recent attack on our staff on duty at Keke community by some irate youth.

She expressed the Company’s displeasure over the revenue generated from the community when compared to the energy consumed.

According to the breakdown she gave, between January and October, 2020 the community consumed energy worth N92, 360,267.93 and only N14,552,650.00 which is barely 16% was realised leaving behind N77,807,617 debt.

It was also revealed that in the month of October 2020 alone, the energy consumed by the community was N10,468,242.80 and only N2, 225,050 which is 21% was realised leaving behind N8,243,192,80 debt.

She called on the community leaders to stop contributing money to purchase and replace any faulty electrical equipment in their domain as it is the sole responsibility of the company to do so.

She also encouraged them to take advantage of the ongoing bonanza to clear their outstanding debt.

Earlier, the leader of the community, Dr Abdullahi tendered an unreserved apology to the Company on behalf of the community and promised that such unruly behaviour  will not happen again.

He listed some issues that led to the friction as non-reflection of payment, collection of part payment, purchasing and replacing of faulty electrical equipment by the community. He advised Kaduna Electric to always seek the support of Civilian JTF whenever they are embarking on disconnection. 

In his contribution, the Head Admin and Security, Mall. Mohammed Haro enjoined the community to protect all electrical installation in their community from vandals.

The MD of Multi Links, Engr Mustapha Mohammed said his Company is an independent company engaged by Kaduna Electric to carry out disconnection exercise. He promised to open an office in the community so as to improve the working relationship with the community and employ some youth from the community.

Also a WhatsApp group has been created by the HoU Customer Service, Mrs King Fumilayo to improve communication with the community.

 

Kaduna Electric Tasks Federal Road Safety Commission to Train Its Staff on Safety Measures

The Gusau Area Office has appealed to the Federal Road Safety Commission, Zamfara State Command to train and enlighten the staff of the Company on road and traffic regulations so as to enable them carryout their duties smoothly. 

 

This was disclosed by the Area Manager of Gusau Area Office, Engineer Mustapha Gago   during a courtesy call to the commission's Office in Kauran Namoda, Zamfara State. 

 

He stated that the Company had adopted the approach to enhance its relationship with the Federal Road Safety Commission and other paramilitary agencies. 

 

"We realize the challenges and strategic importance of road and traffic management in carrying out our activities and we feel the need to sort things out, when this is done it will lead to a cordial relationship among the organizations", he said. 

 

On electricity bills, the Area Manager appealed to the Command, to utilize the Company's 25 percent discount promo to indebted customers to clear their bills.

Engr. Gago also reiterated the abiding commitment of the Company to be fair to every customer as that will encourage them to settle their bills as at when due and this will in turn help delivery of uninterrupted power supply. 

 

The Command Unit, Nasiru Gago described the visit as another catalyst which he said will go a long way cementing cordial relationship between the organizations, he promised to do everything within his reach to ensure the relationship is not only maintained but taken to another level.
