CCD: Tell us a bit about yourself?

SAA: I  am Suleiman Abdullahi Abdullahi, A graduate of Procurement & Supply Chain Management from Kaduna State University (KASU).

CCD: What are your primary responsibilities?

SAA: My designation is Fleet Maintenance Officer which means I am responsible for the maintenance and allocation of all vehicles. In other words, it my duty to ensure that all official vehicles are kept neat and in good mechanical condition for our Operations.

CCD: Tell us how you manage your daily activities in Admin Department? 

SAA: My daily activities involves routine checks in the morning before allocating the vehicles for operations, I ensure all vehicles are sound and have enough fuel in them, then liaise with the SOT to allocate drivers who use them as required and at appropriate time.

CCD: Can you share with us some of the major challenges you face in Admin and Security Department and how you intend to overcome those challenges? 

SAA: The Major challenges I face is relating with Staff. Our job in Logistics is tasking and requires a lot of coordination, with the little resources at hand, I try to do my work diligently but our colleagues are not patient and understanding. To overcome this challenge, I try to plead with them and explain the situation to them.

CCD: What would you consider as your major achievement since you assumed duty?

SAA: My Major Achievement Since I resumed office is, in all the operations carried out no failure was recorded as a result of logistics or from the logistics team

CCD: Do you have any appeal or suggestion to staff or Management?

SAA: I appeal to all staff and management to be patient and considerate as we work with limited resources and we have the same goal ;which is to make our company achieve its objective.

Mojec Partners Kaduna Electric to Launch Mobile Metering 


Mojec International, one of the Meter Asset Providers operating in the franchise of Kaduna Electric yesterday launched its mobile Metering programme that will enable the Company meter electricity users within twenty-four hours after payment.

Speaking on the development, the Chief Marketing and Revenue Assurance Alh. Abubakar Jimeta disclosed that the Mobile Metering programme shall make meter deployment by the MAP easy and convenient to customers of Kaduna Electric.

“The Mobile Metering Programme is another innovation adopted by the Company to further make the purchase and installation of meters easy and convenient to our customers”, he said.

The Managing Director of Mojec International who was represented by the Head of Metering Programme of the Company Mr. Oti Grage appealed to customers of the Company to take advantage of the new Mobile Metering Programme to conveniently have their premises metered.

According to him, through the Mobile Metering Programme, Mojec shall take meters to the doorsteps of the customers and immediately the payment is made, meter shall be installed within 24hrs.

 

Kaduna Electric Donates Mattresses, Blankets to Al-ihsan 

Orphanage in Kaduna


Kaduna Eletric donated mattresses and blankets to Al-ihsan Orphanage in Nasarawa, Kaduna.

The exercise which took place yesterday 16th September, 2022 at the orphanage was led by the Makera Area Manger Mr. James Usman.

Delivering the items on behalf of the Company, the Area Manger, Mr. James Usman described the gesture as a fulfilment of the Corporate Social Responsibility policy of the Company.

“As coporate organization, we identify and provide support  to the beneficiaries who largely depend on the society for assistance”.

According to him, "Kaduna Electric has a corporate policy of giving back to the society through it Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. Kaduna Electric has been supporting communities within it franchise states.

In his response, the Secretary of Al-ihsan Orphanage, Mal. Muhammad Nurudeen Hassan  thanked the Management of Kaduna Electric for the philanthropic gesture and promised to ensure that the items donated are effectively utilised by the orphans.

He described the gesture as timely and much needed. “These mattresses and blankets will go along way in protecting the orphans from getting cold among others especially during this raining season”.

He thanked the Management of Kaduna Electric for their kind heartedness, saying that with this, the Company has redeemed its image among the other services within the state.

"On behalf of my community, I wish to express our profound gratitude to Kaduna Electric for their kind heartedness, i assure you as an Orphanage we always pay our bills and we are calling on the community to fulfilled its responsibility by paying electricity bills as at when due” he contendent.

 

Kaduna Electric Rewards Rafin Guza Community


In its continued effort aimed at fostering greater understanding with the customers, Kaduna Electricity rewarded Rafin Gusa community under Doka Area Office for their improved response to payment of electricity bills from 18-80%.

The award was presented by the Chief Corporate Services Officer of the Company, Tajuddeen Gwadabe in acompany of the Area Manager, Kawo Area Office, Abdulrahman Zayyad.

The Chief Corporate Service  appreciated the effort of the community and described the action as exemplary and highly commendable, stating that it is an important milestone in the Company’s march towards achieving its goals.

“this exemplary conduct is highly commendable; it is a very important step towards the success of the company; the Company can only sustain and improve its services if the customers appreciate the value of the service and become more alive to their responsibility” he said.

“Until our customers learn to pay their bills as at when due, we shall not be able to meet our obligations to the market and this will surely affect our ability to provide efficient service”, he contended. 

The Area Manager, Kawo Area Office, Abdulrahman Zayyad extended his appreciation to the Rafin Guza Village Head for the support and mention a scenario where a sister of the village Head was fined and disconnected on his order because of illegal connection.

“we appreciate your support especially in curbing the issue of vandalism and energy theft; we  assure you of our commitment to improve service delivery” he said

The community appreciated the Management of Kaduna Electric stressed that it is only through enlightenment and sensitization that the people will understand what their obligations are which make it easy for the Company to achieve its goals.

“we promised to work with Kaduna Electric as that is the only way to deliver qualitative and efficient power supply to the State”.

We Provides Geospatial visualization of all our Company’s network and assets - Fatima S. Umar

CCD: Can we have your brief profile?

FSU: My Name is Fatima Suleiman Umar, I've been working with KE for 7yrs in the ICT Department. I started out as the ICT project manager where I was working closely with the Head ICT and all the ICT staff in projects and tasks management, I was later assigned to work in the hardware unit, and later to the data center/networking unit.  I am currently working in the GIS Unit.

CCD: What are your primary responsibilities and how do you manage your daily activities?

FSU: As the Team Lead of the GIS Unit, my tasks involve carrying the entire team along to develop and implement an accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date Geographical Information System for Kaduna Electric. To have a Geospatial visualization of all our Company’s network and assets. We've planned out our daily activities in a task management calendar in such a way that they can run with the ICT project tasks, GIS unit trainings and working with externals such as Engineers without having clashes.

CCD:  Can you tell us more about Geographical Information System?

FSU: GIS is a very powerful tool, it has countless benefits to this utility company ranging from site selection, network mapping, planning, analysis, asset management, facility management, outage management, selection of suitable areas for investment, cost estimation, revenue projections, energy audit, load management, theft detection, information retrieval, infrastructure management, improved decision making and much more! 

CCD: What do you consider as your major achievement since you assumed duty? 

FSU: Naturally, I love finding challenges or bottlenecks that result in inefficiencies and then providing solutions to those problems. This was what gave me the opportunity to work in several units in the ICT department to help others solve complex problems and develop processes, policies, and procedures, design templates and reporting dashboards to document the activities of the department and improve work efficiency. In a nutshell, providing innovative solutions is what gives me deep satisfaction.

CCD: Do you prefer working alone or in a team?

FSU: Honestly, I'm much faster when I work alone, but working as a team gives me more insight and I get to learn more from people. One cannot discountenance the additional knowledge and experience gained from brainstorming and deliberations when working as a team and it makes me appreciate the diversity in people's personalities and the ways they think and process information.

CCD: What are your major challenges?

FSU: Incomplete and Inaccurate data to work with. There is a need to update our network lines and also complete the customer enumeration project started by Zutari.  

CCD: What do you do at your leisure time?

FSU: I don't have leisure time anymore  CCD: Any appeal/suggestion to Staff or Management?  FSU: The management should look into staff welfare, career growth, and employee retention plan.
